BeShaahTovah - In Due Time - Doula Services

A doula is a professional labor support person who stays with you throughout your labor and birth experience. She provides you with the informational, emotional, and physical support to help you have a positive and empowering birth experience. If you are birthing in a hospital, she also works as your advocate to help you follow your prepared birth plan. Please visit our FAQ about doulas for more information about professional labor support. Check our availability and service area.

Labor Support Package includes:

  • Initial phone conversation to answer questions about doulas in general, and about our services
  • 1 to 2 prenatal visits in your home or another setting of your choice
  • Optional visit with your health care provider at no extra charge
  • On-call access 24 hours a day/7 days a week for the 2 weeks before and after your due date
  • Unlimited phone support throughout your pregnancy and two weeks postpartum
  • Access to our lending library and numerous client handouts
  • Labor support beginning as soon as you feel the need to have us present. We will help you labor at home until you decide to go to the birthplace (if not a homebirth). Or we will meet you at the birthplace, whichever you prefer.
  • Our special labor comfort tools, including hot and cold packs, a birth ball, CD player with relaxing music, aromatherapy massage oil, massage tools, and more- to provide maximum comfort at the birth location.
  • We offer labor massage, counter-pressure, visualization exercises, breathing prompts, help changing positions for labor progress, encouragement to use water therapy if available.
  • Continuous presence, encouragement and reassurance
  • Special sensitivity to family's emotional needs, maintaining conducive "mood" in the room, helping family members stay rested and include them in labor support
  • We will stay between one and two hours after the birth to provide immediate post-partum support and help with breastfeeding
  • 1 post-partum visit to discuss the birth and answer questions about breastfeeding and post-partum issues
